  1. Do not harass other players.
This includes insulting, swearing at or persistently bothering people in chat or PM.  You can be mad at a PK or a scammer but please keep it within limits.  If you are harassed contact a mod as soon as possible, do not sink to their level, just because they started it does not mean you will not get in trouble for retaliating.  Please do not post the offending PMs in chat.
  2. Do not swear.
Just because your words are not filtered out does not mean they are allowed in chat.  Use common sense here; in proper context some words are okay, for example the word 'bastard' when used in the context of the type of sword, however when used as an insult it is not acceptable.  The following words are not mutable when used in the right context: crap, damn, ass and hell.  But remember excessive use of them or using them for the purpose of an insult will not be tolerated.  Also it should be noted that using symbols such as *s to cover swearing and deliberately misspelling or missing letters out of swears does NOT make it acceptable.
  3. Do not be inappropriate or vulgar.
Certain topics are considered inappropriate in chat they include (but are not limited to) sex and drugs.  Occasional light sexual references can be acceptable but only if they are not detailed and as long as whoever the comment is directed to does not find it offensive.  Do think about the effect your comments will have before posting any message that could be considered sexual, remember, though the average game player is around 15-25 years old there are players as young as 10, so use common sense here.  Anything real explicit is an instant mute.  One single reference to drugs would probably not find you muted but repeatedly referring to them is not allowed.  Overly disgusting behavior is also not allowed, we don't wish to know what you did with your friend's dog or whatever.
  4. Do not spam or flood.
Spam, in this game, is defined as typing loads of meaningless letters; symbols or numbers, trying to figure what the max limit of the chat line is is also considered spam.  Repeating the same or similar messages more than twice is flooding, so is sending lots of pointless messages close together, this includes countdowns, repeated posting of battle stats such as hits and hunt information such as treasury amount and time left.  One post of stats per person per chat screen is NOT considered spam.  Advertising a clan or any other site over and over is also against this rule.  Clan advertisements are restricted to one advert per clan in 30 minutes.
  5. Do not use excessive caps.
Capital letters denote shouting, which is rude, and annoying, other players can still see you when you don't use caps so why use them?  Using caps to emphasize a particular word or two in a longer sentence is okay but use common sense, typing really long words in caps is just as irritating as lots of small ones, excessive caps also covers TyPiNg LiKe ThIs.  Moderators have the duty to judge whether the use of caps was appropriate or not.
  6. Do not beg.
Other players made it on their own and the high level players probably even had a harder time in the beginning.  It is not an excuse to say 'I was just asking' look in a dictionary, begging means asking for stuff, this includes asking for quizes.  Similarly asking for stuff from the admins is not allowed, why should YOU have an advantage over other players?
  7. Do not post URLs.
The posting of URLs that are not on the Elysarian Kingdoms server is forbidden.  URLs relating to forum threads can be posted as long as the content is appropriate and not in violation of chat rule 3.  This is for your own protection so players do not send you to innapropriate or disgusting sites or sites which contain malicious spyware or viruses.  Remember, excessive posting of URLs will be considered spam.
  8. Do not post Player Messages in chat.
Player Message (PMs) should not be posted in chat, if you wish to share them with others send them in PM.  If you have a problem with a player's PM(s) show the offending PM(s) to a moderator in PM.  Quiz answer PMs are exempt from this rule as long as the content of the PM does not infringe on any other rule.
  9. Chat in English.
Many people from all over the world play Elysarian Kingdoms however, as the first language of most moderators is English, it is requested that you stick to English for moderating purposes.  If you wish to have a conversation in another language please could you do so in PM and not chat.  Sorry for any inconvenience this rule may cause.
  10. Do not use excessive L33T.
You can put a word or two in l33t, but whole sentences and continuous use is very annoying to most players.  This also refers to any other professional slangs.
  11. Do not bring RL disputes into Elysarian Kingdoms.
If you know other Elysarian Kingdoms players IRL and you bring an RL squabble into Elysarian Kingdoms you risk BOTH being muted.  Keep RL arguments RL.
  12. Keep real life details out of the game.
Real life details include such things as specific location, telephone number and even real name.  The people that usually are interested in your real life facts don't mean to do much good with them.  Remember that it IS a game, and that people create virtual characters to step out of real life.  Please keep it that way.
  13. Do not diss this or any other game.
No game can be perfect, game creators try their best to produce games that people will enjoy but it would be impossible to make a game that would please everyone.  Creative criticism is accepted but if you don't like the game, why play it at all and ruin it for those who do?
  14. Do not provoke bad behavior in others.
Inciting other players to break the rules by encouraging them or antagonizing them to such a point that they start swearing or insulting you is not allowed.  Be careful or you might find yourself with as much of a mute as they do.  Inciting panic and riot by making false statements is also covered by this rule.
  15. Do not whine about moderator activity.
If you really got muted or banned for no reason report it to an admin or demi via email, a link to the admins' emails can be found on the login page.  The moderators are people too, and can make mistakes.  Repeatedly complaining about mod actions in chat or in PM to the mods can cause you to be muted.
The punishment for breaking the rules mentioned above is usually muting and/or banning.

There are two types of quizzes that can be found in EK, Game Quizzes and Chat Quizzes. Each type is very different from the other in terms of rules:

Game Quizzes

  1. Do not skip quizzes, if you relog (or in some cases refresh the page) while a quiz is on the screen it will be classed as 'skipped', the number of skipped quizzes by each player is stored in the database and anyone with more than 1 skipped quiz may be banned.

Chat Quizzes

Anyone in Elysarian Kingdoms may hold a chat quiz if they want to as long as the quizzes and their answers abide by the chat rules.  The following extra rules also apply:

  1. As gold is not transferable between all players player-run quizes may not be for gold as this would be unfair on people who can not recieve the prize, chat quizzes are for fun.
  2. The quizzer's decision is final, he/she can decide the winner of the quiz in any way they wish.  Whining about a quiz's winner may result in punishment.
  3. The quizzer's answer is final, any disputes of an answer's reliability should be taken up in PM with the holder of the quiz.  Whining about a quiz's answer may result in punishment.
  4. Quiz Master is the only player allowed to award gold for quizes.

  1. Do Not use OOC in the Roleplay Channel.
This channel is intended for RPing (roleplaying) alone, and should be kept so.  Anything you post should be kept in character.  Out of character (OOC) posts in this channel should be limited to comments or short conversations about your RP.  Putting /e in front of all your messages does not make it roleplaying.
  2. Do Not Auto.
Autoing is defined as controlling the effects of an action upon another character, for example saying you killed someone.  By doing this you are effectively rendering the other person's character dead.  It is only fair to give your opponent the chance to dodge the attack in some way, then if the he/she wishes to become dead it will happen.  If not it is unfair to force that upon them as once they are dead, in most cases, there is no coming back.
  3. Do Not Godmod/Godmode.
Godmoding is defined as being undefeatable or invulnerable, a godmodder will often have ridiculously strong powers and never (or rarely) get tired.  Characters like this ruin everything for the rest of those RPing with them.
  4. You are Not a God.
Elysaria has 5 gods/goddesses and, though it may seem a little restrictive, we do not want any other gods popping up out of nowhere, feel free to align yourself to 1 or 2 of the gods if you so wish, you may even get them involved in your RP if you're lucky and ask politely.  Additionally your weapon/spell/life/whatever was NOT given to you or blessed by an Elysarian god/goddess unless we say so, if we feel you deserve a special blessing you may receive one.  Similarly you are not more powerful than the gods/goddesses.
  5. Do Not Interrupt an RP
It is rude to join in with another person's RP without their permission.  If you wish to join in with an RP you must PM them for permission first.
  6. EK is a Medieval Type Setting
Though we do not wish to restrict your creativity we would ask you to keep in the theme, if you wish to rp using modern technology there are many good places to do so. EK would like to stay true to the medieval theme and though you could explain it away by saying you magically travelled to another dimension and found this device they call a mobile phone we feel it will change the feel of the game in a negative way. Similarly you could say 'my mobile phone works by magic' but this just shows a lack of imagination, if you want to communicate long-distance how about using a crystal ball, magic mirror, or a spell.

  1. Do not use inappropriate names.
Names which include; swearing, racist comments, sexual content or any other offensive material will lead to your character being banned or renamed without warning.  Names that imitate those of moderators or admins are also considered inappropriate.  Should your character be renamed you will be informed via the email address you used to create your character.
  2. Do not macro.
Macros, scripts, bots or any other form of automation program are strictly forbidden, this includes the use of keyboard clicking aids, moderators run frequent checks for macroers and anyone who does not respond to these checks will be banned.  You have to be present when your char is leveling so that you can respond to PMs from mods or higher.  Modifying Elysarian Kingdoms files in order to gain levels or gold quicker is also not permitted.  You may not use the spacebar to click or scroll within the game as it interferes with the antimacro measures and WILL cause you to get turned into the Macroer race or banned.  It may be noted that using the Page Up/Page Down keys and the End/Home keys is permitted and will NOT cause any adverse affects to your character; they are the only keyboard shortcuts allowed within the game.
  3. Do not share your character.
Sharing your character or getting someone to level it for you is not allowed, people using your char could easily take all your gold or get you into trouble in chat.  You are responsible for whatever your character does or says whether it was you who did it or not so saying 'It wasn't me my friend typed that' is no defense and will not stop you being muted.  For your own protection it is requested that you log out every time you leave your computer when you are in a place that other people can access it; little brothers and school friends like to get people in trouble.  Do not tell anyone your password, not even an Elysarian Kingdoms administrator.
  4. Do not sell your character.
It is against the rules to sell, give, trade or in any way hand over a character to any other person, similarly it is not permitted to buy or accept a free character.  These rules are in place for your own protection as it is possible for the original owner to reclaim the character at any time.
  5. Do not trade between games.
Do not buy, sell or in any way trade Elysarian Kingdoms gold or characters for items, gold or characters in other games.  All gold, kingdoms and characters are property of Evelyn Software and may not be sold.  Buying or selling for real money is also prohibited.  This type of trading is usually a scam.
  6. Do not log in to two chars at once.
Having several characters is permitted; you may not however use more than one in the game login at any given time.  You may however log in to one char on the game login and one on chat-only.
  7. Do not hack.
Do not try to guess other people's passwords; guessing passwords will lead to an IP ban.  It is also against the rules to reverse-engineer, attempt to gain access to, or modify the Elysarian Kingdoms code in any way.  Hacking is a serious offence and will result in a ban and in some severe cases legal action will be taken.
  8. Do not abuse bugs.
If you find a bug in the game it is your duty to report it straight away, abusing bugs could lead to a zap or worse, reporting them could lead to a reward.
  9. Do not scam.
Do not attempt to gain gold from other players by deception, this is considered scamming and is not tolerated.  Scammers will be tracked down and banned.
  10. Do not run contests that require an entry fee.
Games where the contestants are required to pay an entry fee are not allowed; this includes lotteries and tournaments that ask for a donation/fee in chat.  Private fights between players that involve a prize are allowed but you cannot advertise for participants in chat.  This is to protect players from scams as these kinds of contests are very difficult to control and the organizer could just run off with all the gold.
  11. Loaning gold.
If you loan gold to another player you do so at your own risk, do not give loans to players you don't know well as you may never see the gold again.  If you wish to get a loan ask a friend in PM or outside of EK; asking for loans in chat is begging.
  12. Do not create, run or host off-server sites relating to Elysarian Kingdoms.
You may not create off-server websites relating to EK as we cannot guarentee the content, if you wish to make an EK help page or forum you must have the express permission of the admins and they will host it on the EK server.  This rule is for the protection of players and the legal protection of the admins.
  13. Respect the mods and admins.
If you are PMed by a moderator or admin you must respond immediately.  If an admin asks you to do something you should do so without question.  An admin will never ask you for your password.  If someone saying they are an EK admin asks for your password, report it to abuse@elysaria.com with a copy of any log and/or email.
For further clarification of these rules please read the Terms and Conditions.
