Kingdoms

Holding a kingdom is an advanced feature of the game, you may not settle a kingdom unless you are over level 5,000 and even then you will likely need the help of knights to raise enough money to keep it around.

Settling a Kingdom

To start a kingdom simply find an abandoned territory and click 'Settle' to claim the land for yourself, settling a kingdom will create an area of 5 x 5 where you can construct a number of structures to improve your kingdom.  To enter your land simply click the button marked 'Enter', there is a similar button marked 'Leave' at 0,0 in your kingdom to leave it.  As a king or queen you have the option to set a kingdom name and description, change the tax rate, hire a guard and buy new structures for your kingdom.  If you or your spouse own a kingdom you may not enter the kingdom of any other player bar your spouse, children if you have them, and your and your spouse's duke or duchess.

Kingdom Name and Description.

You can set/change the name or description of your kingdom, this is done using the text input boxes found under your kingdom map.  The map of any kingdom can be accessed by clicking on the link in the table cell next to the movement arrows which contains the kingdom name.

Kingdom Flag.

You can set an image as your kingdom's flag, this image must be in .jpg, .gif or .png format and must be roughly 300 x 100 pixels in size.  To set your kingdom's flag click on the default flag image and fill in the form that appears.  Alternatively click here.  When you have submitted your flag it is sent to Arialla and she must approve it before it can be used, this is to avoid innapropriate images being used on flags.

Kingdom Control Panel

The Kingdom Control Panel can be found by clicking on the ruler of the kingdom's name in the top right cell in the combat table.  In the control panel you can change such things as the tax for the kingdom and guard/structure for the location you are in.  You may only access the control panel of your own, your spouse's and your children's kingdoms.

Guards

In order to successfully maintain your kingdom it will be necessary for you to hire a guard to protect your land while you are traveling or offline.  To buy a guard you must go to the location you wish to buy it for then access the Kingdom Control Panel, much like weapons and armour the price for hiring guards is shown beside the drop-down list.  You can only have one guard for each square of your kingdom, the most important place to have a guard is on 2, 2, your fortifications.  Other structures should be guarded too.

Guard Effectiveness

If your guard(s) are stronger than the monster you, the king or queen can kill, then the guard will not respect you.  For every level above the monster you fight that the guard is, his or her effectiveness as a guard will decrease by 10%, for example if your guard is a Crystal Dragon but you are fighting a Wingless Dragon (3 monster levels below) your guard's effectiveness would only be 70% (100-(3x10)=70).  This means that if your guard is 10 levels above the monster you fight then they would be 0% effective so it would be like you had no guard at all.  If the difference is more than 10 the guard actually will help the attacker/pillager.

Morale

When the ruler of the kingdom is in the location of one of his/her structures the defensive value of the guard at that structure doubles.

Tax

Depending on the tax rate you set, you will receive a portion of all money earned by players that fight in your kingdom.  This occurs whether you are online or off, dead or alive.  The gold earned from taxes automatically goes to your treasury for use when buying guards and structures for your kingdom.  To set a tax you must go to any location in your kingdom and access the Kingdom Control Panel.

Structure Integrity

Integrity relates to the overall strength and maintenance level of a structure, once a structure's integrity drops below 50% then it is downgraded by one structure level unless it is only a level 1 structure, in which case once it drops to 1% it is destroyed.  When the fortification structure has been destroyed then your kingdom will no longer exist and any player residing within the kingdom will be thrown out into the wilderness.

Corruption

When the ruler of a kingdom is away for a long time the kingdom's inhabitants tend to start doing things that they would otherwise not do, for example: stealing from the kingdom treasury or failing to come to the defence of the kingdom should it be attacked, this is corruption.  Corruption is measured as a percentage, for every percentile of corruption for the kingdom the bank interest and defensive capabilities are decreased by 1%.

Degradation

At 1am UK time each kingdom gets affected by degradation, the results of which are a decrease of 1% in the kingdom's integrity and an increase of 10% in corruption.

Repairing Structures

To repair your structures (increase integrity to 100%) you must go to the structure and click on the 'Repair' button, this, however costs gold, for every 1% damage (100-integrity=% damage) that the structure has you have to pay 1% of the original cost of the structure.  For example if you had a Wooden Keep (cost=4,000,000) and its integrity was at 99% then the damage of the structure would be 100-99=1 which would make the cost of repair 40,000 gold (4,000,000/100x1=40,000).  To stop corruption in your kingdom you simply have to log in to the game.

Attacking Kingdoms

Destroying Structures

To a destroy a structure in someone else's kingdom you must enter that kingdom and move to the square in which the structure you wish to destroy is located, once there click the assault button, you may need to assault the structure several times in order to destroy the structure.  If you assault a structure and die you will lose all of the gold in your purse, 5% of your level, 10% of all stats and you will be dragged from the kingdom by donkey cart and exiled from that kingdom for 1,000 levels.

Overthrowing a Kingdom

In order to overthrow an existing kingdom you must enter that kingdom and destroy its fortifications by moving to the correct square (2, 2) and clicking on the assault button.  Factors that affect the defensive capabilities of a kingdom include the guard, the presence of the monarch and his/her stats and the level of the fortifications.  Once you have destroyed the kingdom the location occupied by that kingdom will become free to settle and any players located in that kingdom (including yourself) will be thrown out into the wilderness, any other structures in that kingdom will be destroyed and will not be inherited by the player who claims the kingdom.  You may only settle one kingdom, you may, however, overthrow as many as you like, you just cannot claim them as your own.  If you assault a kingdom and die you will lose all of the gold in your purse, 5% of your level, 10% of all stats and you will be dragged from the kingdom by donkey cart and exiled from that kingdom for 1,000 levels.

Pillaging a Kingdom

If you wish to get gold from a kingdom's treasury you can use the pillage feature, by clicking the pillage button on the fortifications of the desired kingdom you can steal gold from the treasury.  If you attempt to pillage a kingdom and die you will lose all of the gold in your purse, 5% of your level, 10% of all stats and you will be dragged from the kingdom by donkey cart and exiled from that kingdom for 1,000 levels.

Bank

Banks produce interest for your treasury based on the level of the bank.  Banks are not cumulative so having more than one will do nothing more than waste your money.  Bank interest occurs at 5pm UK time.  Corruption affects bank interest, the higher the corruption the lower your interest will be, 100% corruption will cancel all interest.

If you have a combat training structure in your kingdom your weapon skill, strength and agility will be increased by the level effect amount every fight.  The structure effect will happen regardless of whether you are in your kingdom or not and will effect your immediate family (spouse (100% effect) and children (75% effect)) and your knights (between 25% and 50% depending on knight level) IF they do not have a combat training structure that will give a greater effect than yours.  Combat training structures are not cumulative so having more than one is a waste of your gold.

Mage Training

If you have a mage training structure in your kingdom your wisdom, intelligence and contravention will be increased by the level effect amount every fight.  The structure effect will happen regardless of whether you are in your kingdom or not and will effect your immediate family (spouse (100% effect) and children (75% effect)) and your knights (between 25% and 50% depending on knight level) IF they do not have a mage training structure that will give a greater effect than yours.  Mage training structures are not cumulative so having more than one is a waste of your gold.

Statues

Statues increase your drop rate and affect the alignment of your kingdom depending on which type you choose.   If you have Erebos or Dionysus statue structures in your kingdom you will not be able to have a sherpa hut, if you have an Arialla or Bane statue you will not be able to have a cave opening.  Statue level effect is the standard level effect in % and will affect anyone who is inside your kingdom (being located at the outside of the gateway does not count as inside).

Fountain of Vigour

Cave Opening

In a cave opening you can descend to the cave plane by paying the cave guard to let you through.  This structure has just one level and if you have one you may not buy a sherpa hut.  Anyone who has access to the kingdom and meets the requirements of the plane may use this structure.
